Oh yar, on i insert a sapphire X1050 low end graphic card onto the PCIE slot and at the same time this mbo has only 1 lde slot and so concidence the hd is a ata due to this i have to share the slot with the dvdrw and now it start to have some problem like when i click on any program, most program would take donkey years to launch, unless i hit the reset button and start window all over again.
Have run memtest and monitor the processor temp, both are fine, now it let me wondering whether does the problem lies with the sharing of ide connector or the onboard graphic which i didn't turn it off or the low end pcie card i'm having with?

Integrated graphics should automatically disable when a PCI Express graphics card is installed.
Boot into BIOS using the integrated graphics (if it works), and set Primary Display Adapter to PCI Express. Save and Exit. Wait several seconds, then power-off the PC. Change monitor cable to PCI Express card, then power on.

Lastest update i ghost the old ide hd OS to a sata hd, meaning now it no longer share as master as slave with the dvdrw. And i plug it the 8600GT in, it looks much better now from last time till this morning, but it start to lagged again while AVG doing it's daily scan, so it cause me wodering has it to do with AVG?? But i've been using AVG all this year and everything seems fine so it cause me thinking has it really got to do with AVG?

Is that E4500 a single core? And waht speed is it running at? Any system will lag a little when running an AV program, even Dual and Quad cores, because the AV is scanning the system's hard drive. A slower or single core CPU will lag the worst.
The problems with the ATA hard drive and the DVD RW sound like the jumpers were not correctly set. There are usually no issues with having 2 drives on one ATA channel, I have 4 rigs that work that way just fine Chris.

Hey Chris, is a Dual core. Tbh i have never encounter so lagged before though previously i've been using athlon xp, athlon 64, Intel P3, P4 and the recent C2D E6550 and the E4500 all with AVG . All i can thought of could be my family member who luv to download game and stuff which might have caught some spyware or stuff like tat which lead to the occasional laggness. Also what i mean by laggness is that i can't open any program or even having problem surfing web when the problem occurs when i double click any program, it would just stay put there those i can move my mouse pointer, till i hit on the reset button then it would be smooth for the second bootup.
Currently is much better after i install the sata drive and using the 8600GT, would monitor it, come to worse might consider doing a fresh install of vista

Hey Cas....just a thought, when its "lagging"...press Ctrl-Alt-Delete...and in the
windows task manager click Processes and see if a Process is Hogging Memory
or CPU ....if it is and you dont recognize the name of the process, Google it
and see what info you can find...
One time I had a very similar problem after a fresh install....it was some kind of Windows
speech recognition program that was using like 99% CPU.
