First Attempt at Overclocking

This is my very first attempt at overclocking so i just wanted to check with you guys if the following results seem ok :

Also got a 3Dmark06 score of 13176, which is about 2k higher then my old best

Your OC seems good, but your temps look high. Make sure you turn off any power saving features in the bios and Windows. You want your CPU fan to be running full speed. I have my Q6600 at 3GHZ, and my temps at desktop are 27-27-24-25.

Ahh i see ur using the same CPU HSF as i am, ive got the "fan mate" turned all the way to max but i take it it isnt that max fan speed. Its running at 2557 RPM as it is .

did you get those temp readings under load, or is that at idle??

Under load hence the 100% load in the screenshots . I think at idle i get the same as you or a few degrees higher anyway

Ahhh, ok...........I noticed that after the fact that I posted to you. I would say your temps look normal then. So go ahead and take that bad boy to 3GHZ!!

i worried about frying it now though...cant afford to kill a £130 CPU to be fair. Ive already voided the warranty by OCing it so if it does die then im screwed..overclcoking it further might just make it more problematic.

Well, you have the same cooling as me and mine runs at 3GHZ with no added voltage with no problems on a daily basis. Its totally up to you though, I wouldn't recommend anything someone isn't comfortable with.

Yer im cool with 2.8Ghz for now . I dont actually NEED it for anything its just fun yano :P after summer ill be upgrading .. new Motherboard, 9 series GPU (maybe) and ram . also may indulge in h20 but we'll see :P . Ill overclock it further then and when i have more experiane i.e. more confidence hehe
