Question watercooling

Other than installing a cpu water block, is it must to install a gpu block for the graphic card as well? Also would it be noisy say after adding everything in say like water tubing and pump stuff?

And is Zalman reserator 1 plus a good cooling kit?

All you really need is the CPU water block, but most folks add the GPU block as well, it just makes sense. No, water cooling is not noisy at all unless you get a cheap system with a noisy pump.

I understand the Zahlman is a nice kit, altho I don't use water cooling so can't speak from experience.

One thing to remember about changing from air cooling to water is this: part of the air flow from the CPU HS/F is used to cool the Power Regulator transistors at the back of the main board, and sometimes the heat pipe from the North Bridge cooler connects to a heat sink there as well, like on my Abit KN9 SLI.

Without airflow from the HS/F the PWM transistors can and do get very hot and you can have stability issues or even burn up the board. So some kind of cooling is needed for that area of the main board.

Water cooling done right is far too expensive for me, a hassle, can leak, and I feel is only needed if you are over clocking a lot. Chris.

Hey Chris

Tks for sharing, i knew is quite expensive to get water cooling kit. Is for my own knowledge and since i have OC on air before, next would luv to try my hand on watercooling but at the mean time i would not be getting one, most likely say in a couple of month or year down the road.

Happen to came across on the webbie on how to install water cooling kit and stuff, not as difficult as i thought but worry part is it might leak and there goes my precious baby

The Zalman IMHO is ok at best, but priced too high for the performance it gives.

Before you make a decision to use water, make sure you have done a lot of research on it so you know how to maintain it. It's not just a matter of hooking up the tubing to a pump.

I have used the Coolermaster water cooling systems ( both the 120mm and 80mm ) kits. They only cool the CPU but are cheap water cooling methods. The 120MM kit kept a Pentium D 3.0 ghz processor at 40C with a load. Which I was happy with. So I purchased the 80mm one for another computer that had a smaller case, this one was for a Pentium D 2.8ghz processor. It was horrible It ran 60c with a load. I could not belived the difference was that big. I think the 80mm might have been defective, but I tried several times to find an issue and could not. I even went as far to refill the cooling liquid in it.
