"Bragging" about hardware 2
LMAO @ Kilroy!!! Hah!
I have tried the 3D Mark '05 and '06 with the CPU at 2.4 Ghz ( slight O/C ) and at 300HTT ( 2,7Ghz, BIG O/C )
and not much gain at all. The vid card is the factor here. And, as Sisk0 pointed out, the 6800GT or 7800GT
are just not even in the same ballpark! Frankly! ( he he, get it, ballpark franks ?????? ) Chris.

Chris, Josh and I have proven that 06 very much takes the CPU into factor...........compare a dual core to a single core and its night and day. The reason you dont see much difference is Josh found that the gain in FPS by going up beyond 2.4GHZ to 2.6 or 2.7 GHZ is a couple at best. Thats why I decided not to OC the 4800, just not worth the extra heat on the CPU. By the way, I hope your monitoring your temps on the CPU, if your breaking over 50c I would rethink your clock speed on air. Also keep in mind you are probably pushing that 400 watt PSU to it limit. Just a couple thoughts to keep in mind...................

There is always a limiting factor... on slower systems, the CPU is the limiting factor, on faster systems it's the videocard that's limiting. That why the higher you go with the CPU, the less it matters. It makes sense doesn't it?
Although I agree that PSU are really underrated components, many people now think that you need a 600W PSU for every high-end system. Test show over and over again that a good 400W PSU should be MORE than adequate, even under full load. There is NO situation in which all your components use their peak power. Just place a multimeter between the computer and the power connection...
I agree that you shouldn't go much higher than 50C!

I didnt say a 600watt PSU is what he needs, only that with a 7800GT and CPU overclocked to 2.7GHZ the 400watt may be under strain........................BFG does recommend a 400watt minimum PSU with 26AMP's on the 12volt line, but myself I dont always feel comfortble going with minimum specs, maybe you do but I dont.

You kids play nice now or no dessert!
The antec SmartPower 2.0 400 watt PSU has dual 12v rails. 18 amps on 12v1 and 16 amps on 12v2. Right
now the card is running at it's stock O/C and the CPU only at 267HTT, making it 2.4Ghz. CPU temp is a toasty
38c. Using that rad stock heat pipe cooler, works fine.
When I can afford to, I do want a better PSU but the antec is fine for now. ( I got the ambulance and hospital
bills last Friday, I'm gonna be one broke Old Hippy for a while! ) Chris.

Ummmm, no, I'm not kidding about the bills, unfortunately. If you have Insurance be glad that you do.
Tell you what, Citoy, I am supposed to be getting another AV8 from one of the Abit Wolves. When I get that,
I will donate my Gigabyte board to your worthy cause! Of course, this will mean you have to get a socket 939
processor and a PCI-Express video card. You should be able to use the memory and drives, etc. from one of
your existing systems, tho! Sound O.K.? And, yes, I am serious! Chris.

Hey Chris I was just joking didn't mean you take it seriously. I would not want you to spend for shipping fees for I live far around the globe. But if I could spare some for shipping fees I would be happy to hv that board but I'm sure I would not want to trouble you w/ that but I appreciate the offer.
