You may also want to think of getting more memory, 1GB these days is just the bare minimum, I would get another 1GB before I get a new PSU.

Your 8600GT is scoring what it should at in 3D Mark 06, so that tells me that there is nothing wrong with your card also.
So I really don't see how a new PSU is going to get you a higher frame rate, just not going to happen IMO.
I would make sure you have any latest patches for the game, you can try newer drivers (174.74 beta at NV's site), you can turn down the resolution or game settings, and/or turn off AA and AF.
Good luck!

The odd part is that if i use the settings of the game in low or in high the fps are quite the same.. the GPU is way good for ut2004, i have a 8400G in my laptop wich is inferior then the 8600gt and i run at 100FPS... and with good quality.. there is a problem but the problem is quite silent and not very obvious. I know that if i put this card in a new CPU, kinda lika a C2D, i have no probs and game runs with very High fps...

Make sure you have the latest patch for the game which seems to be 3369: Unreal Tournament
Also try using the 174.74 Beta drivers: NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
Maybe this will help.

Well, it might just be the best bet to do a complete format and start from new. That way you can narrow where the problem may be coming from and go from there. Use the latest drivers that are WHQL certified and then see how things are. At least this way you are starting with a clean OS with no leftover files or junk.
I would also recommend another 1GB of ram in the future, this may help out your performance a good deal.

PSU with the +12v with 20A at least will fix this cause my 400w PSU has only 16A in the +12v
|
Whats really funny is my 4 year old Dell Power Supply fan finally gave up the ghost and froze (due to dirt ), however the PSU survived. When I pulled it out, I saw it was rated at 305W! But, looking further, I saw the 12v was rated at 22A, the 5 @ 18A, and 3.3 @22A. Just goes to prove again that Dell uses quality PSU's, and what a quality one actually rates at compared to its 'advertised' value.

With that quinda Ampers in the connectors it sure is quality with so less watts. I asked this before but no one answered, but is it any way to know if due to the fact that my PSU sucks, if nvidia drivers are downgrading the GPU clock or something under winxp?any software that does that? John Gatt in this thread sayd that under XP is possible to see (in Vista no).
