I'm not sure putting 2 GPU's on one card is a good idea...

Anyone ever own a Voodoo 5 5500AGP, 2 GPU's and 64Mb of RAM, the latest graphics card in the Voodoo series, ATI bought out 3dfx before they could release the Voodoo 6 and scrapped it, thank God, the Voodoo 6 was going to have 4 GPU's and 128Mb of RAM, crazy.

The point being that within the Windows Graphics Settings you had to permanently disable one of the GPU's to make anything run right, they couldn't get the 2 GPU's working properly together in Windows 98 and were faced with all sorts of issues when making 2K drivers, so it never worked right in 2K either.

I hope this works out ok for them though.

The thing with this card is you need a SLI board 1st off, plus a good SLI driver to go with it. So far SLI in Vista is anything but good.

Interesting, they are told that it will support "Quad SLI", I suspect that this while is true, it is not what the people are expecting, with two GPU's on the same card, Quad SLI could be achieved by combining 2 cards instead of 4 (is that how Quad SLI works normally?), anyway, the two GPU's are configured in SLI on the card, so I see why the SLI drivers are needed, however the SLI motherboard should still only be necessary if you plan to use two cards together.

From what I understand you need a SLI board in order to have the necessary bandwidth. I dont have SLI on my board so I cant run it, not that I would get it in the 1st place.

It would seem to me this is how it would work.

If that was the case and say putting something like 3 of these onto an XFX 780i mobo supporting 3-way SLi would it be the equivalent to 6-way SLI ? or would the board not have enough bandwidth to support it?

I was speaking in theoretical terms :P i doubt many would be able to afford it, let alone have the need for it :P
