I guess you forgot to cd to the dir?
But then, did you get it to do something useful?
Now that the new ubuntu kernel showed up the modules wont load without -f.
And still it's VERY flakey.
300 fps in glxgears is a shame, right?
VIA EPIA SN18000 board...

Do you have direct rendering. I set up the new VIA driver, but still no direct rendering (glxinfo) ;(

I have Ubuntu 8.04 on Fujitsu-Siemens 3515 laptop with p4m900 chipset and direct rendering doesn't work. Xorg fails when I try to run glxinfo. I found that drm module isn't loaded. When I try to load drm manually, I get
Code:
FATAL: Error inserting drm (/lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/kernel/drivers/char/drm/drm.ko): Invalid module format
and dmesg says
Code:
drm: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module

You have to load the older kernel 2.6.24-16. Such problems will exists until Via public the source code for drm.

Ok, I found what a problem was that. VIA drivers compatible only with ubuntu kernel 2.6.24-16, but I upgraded to 2.6.24-17 today. I downgrade to 2.6.24-16 and everything work now.

redchrom, thank you for help. I found solution myself in experimental way just several minutes before your post
