Default Setting up via graphics drivers for (cx700[m2]) on ubuntu 7.04 linux

I followed your guide and it does not work for me. I also want to activate DRI but it does not work. The xine player crash my complete system if i use the via drivers.

Has someone an idea?

I have found the problem.

There was a damm nvidia mesa driver installed. I use linuxMCE and it seemed the nvidia mesa package is installed by default. After removing the nvidia driver it worked for me.

I don't think so, the overlay problems are without HW-MPEG.

Will this work on 8.04? I've looked at the drivers on the Via website for the CX700 and they didn't give me positive results. This looks like a decent walkthrough but any idea if the same files and steps will work on the new revision of Ubuntu (8.04)

I don't think so since it has some kernel specific thingies. There is a driver for 8.04 on linux.via.com.tw but I have not tried it yet since my sata disks stopped working with 8.04 (ide does work)

Thanks for the reply. Have you or anyone been able to make the 8.04 drivers from the Via site work with HW acceleration?
