Older Soundblaster card on XPSP3
I'm trying to get my Creative SoundBlaster PCI128 soundcard working on a PC running Windows XP SP3.
On my main PC which is currently out of commission (long story) the card works perfectly, and has
never let me down in all the years I've owned it and the different machines I've had it in.
But ... on the machine I'm trying to get it to work on, the most recent drivers (the very last ones to
be published by Creative Labs for this card) keep refusing point blank to install. The setup.exe file
extracts the files required, and after a few seconds, stops with a small dialog box containing a
speech bubble with an "i" icon, an OK button, and the word Information in the title bar.
System specs . . . Gigabyte GA-8648FX ... 3GHz Pentium 4 HT ... 3GB DDR400 RAM
I've noticed there is another member of this forum, that (according to his signature) has the same
soundcard in question installed on a system running XP SP3 and Vista SP1 in a duat boot setup.
Can anyone assist me with this?
