Well finished the game after about 20 hours of playing time. I could have played longer but I got caught up in the story and before I knew it I was done.
This is about as open ended of a game as I have played and liked. Stalker may be totally open ended but I couldn't stand all the bugs.
There is a patch and an add on mission, "Bring Down the Sky" both of which you will need. Without BDtS, there will be missing textures (lava flows specifically) on planet Therum. To get the patch and the extra content, you will have to register your game key on the Mass Effect website. You will then be given a key to install BDtS. Then install them and you are good to go!
The game has your main Assignments, then there are the side missions, all can be accessed thru your Journal ( "J" key). Ask for money when someone asks you for a favor, you can buy weapons with the "credits". Talk to everyone that you can, this is how you get the side missions. It can be difficult to find your way around and get to places sometimes, you just have to explore. I'll post some screen shots later.
The game is just gorgeous. Beautiful. But it doesn't like the nVidia Beta 177.83 PhysX drivers. They were causing a General Protection Fault and hard locking my PC. I rolled back to the 177.41 WHQL drivers and the game ran fine.
Anyways, pick this game up if you want something different. It's not just "run and gun" there is a lot of interaction with other characters, you actually have to think thru a lot of the game. 4 BIG smiles Chris.

Here's a little more info on that "bug" i ran into with the missing textures. Found the answer here: http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums...3333&forum=127 "missing lava textures on Therum". There is a folder that you have to delete once you download and install Bring Down the Sky. It's all outlined in that link.
Playing thru a second time and taking it a lot slower. I'm doing all the side missions that I can. Still a really fun game. Here's a few screen shots:
Me & Joker on the bridge:
Mako on a freeway: This thing will go almost anywhere!
Sunrise on Therum:
The missing lava flows:
More later, gonna go play a few more hours! This game really could last a lot longer than the first time I played thru if I wanted, maybe 30 to 40 hours. It's that open! Chris.

i think id rather hang out over here and post with you chris. that site abit has migrate to. is not abit but has all of abits moderator. and they sought me out just to puff up. brand and threaten me in a open forum. and tka has a better and more games section and we can add new titles when ever we want so.
any way. i started an account there. i thought maybe id hang out with you wizz wolf and few others. i never had any problems with and was there. blue might go there. he has not made up his mind yet. and the best abit help minds are there.. but its clear said liberal aclu tree huggers and san fran values said politically correct types do not practice what they preach.. they are only tolerant of them selves and them of them. and do play favorites. for me. if abit mods was on the same level as me on the new site. well things would be better. but i cant change that.. and i need to find a tech site that knows abit mobos well. and this fatal1ty mobo. i might need some help to get it going.. i will not ask for help at the other site.. maybe some here can help i dont know.
anyway. this is the first open post of this kind on the internet i have ever posted about abit.. im not looking to leave the other site or get ban. and im not asking for any to speak for me or nothing else. and i can have friends that are friends of my mortal enemies.. life is like that sometimes.
this site might seem slow to some.. its cool enough. least you folks welcome me and others. and i was not pre judged or branded. and the same rules and courtesy apply to all new comers. i thank you a lot..
dam. that was long..i want to post some screen shots..ha ha.
this is me thinking about all i just typed ha ha..>
i died the first time i did the beacon mission. i missed a few bombs on the other side of the wall..>
hey girl..>
space stuff is cool..>

i started playing this yesterday. i have to get use to 3rd person view and i can not jump. and it is a lot to learn. and the cut scene interaction is different.. but things get better as i play more..
i know when you are told to go meet so and so some place. you run around in circles until you find your way and the people you are looking for. but i found the transporters. they help some. and at i guess the base.. where the 1 guy is that sells better weapons etc..on the other side of the room was an equipment area. i tried to upgrade some of my stuff..it seems to have changed on that gui etc.. but seems im still with stock gear and suit..seems the girl got my suit and maybe weapons upgrades..im not sure if i got better stuff for my team and not my self or what..i was by my self..other then the dude that sold stuff..i only had maybe 1450 cash. so i could not buy from him.. i pick up all the codex i can..but im not sure what they are for. and when in the field i pick up all weapons i can.. and i know how to bring up or change weapons or view tasks and codex etc. any way..
i will figure it out.. i might need to read a game guide for help on general game functions. how to use stuff etc.. now that i think about it.. i think when i was trying to upgrade my stuff. the avy was the girl.. maybe it was some button or something i was supposed to click. or see my avy and apply changes etc.. i will figure it out.. maybe i will try and go back and take a screen of what im talking about.. its not the same gui you have out in the field.i think the way i set up i can apply changes upgrades to my teams stuff.. and i think its a auto setting too.i think i have it set auto. this gui was different.. being i record so much..i forget all about taking screens. guess it would be more easy to have screens..

I never really messed with the Codex, but there is alot of stuff in there. And I left the "leveling" on auto which may not have been the best way to do it. There were a few areas that I couldn't open supply crates or salvage items because I didn't have certain skills, so I couldn't do all the side missions. No biggie, the game was hella long anyways!
You really can get lost in The Citadel, more areas will unlock on the public transport the farther you go.
When you go up and talk to people, some will ask you to do stuff for them. Do all of this that you can. These are some of the side missions. When you do a favor, then be the bad guy and ask for some payment. That way you will have credits to buy weapons with.
You will find a lot of weapons and upgrades in crates that you find, some you can hack easily, some you have to use Omni Gel to open. A lot of the things you find in crates you will already have, so I was converting stuff to Omni Gel a lot.
I don't usually like 3rd person games, but I quickly got the hang of this one and got addicted. Second time thru is still fun. And I'm finding things I missed. Never did use a game guide.
Also, a question about your video card, are you using a utility to increase the fan speed? I use N Tune, or EVGA has their Precision Tool you can use. Your card could get hot running this game. That's about it for now, have fun! Chris.

ya chris
i use precision. i up it to 59% for all my games. i hate having to turn it up and down all the time to play games..i wish i could set high and low setting and it auto rise as it needs too..but i can work with it.. ha ha i forgot to lower the speed after playing 1 day last week and went to sleep it ran at 59% all night.but it did not hurt any thing.. my case has 2 built it temp probes.. i have 1 stuck in the end of my vid card.it never goes over 113 or 115f while gaming
