Default Unichrome Pro IGP drivers for Ubuntu 8.04

A friend of mine built a PC for me a while ago, using an MSI PM8M-V motherboard, which has an integrated S3 Graphics Unichrome Pro Integrated Graphics Core. (which, every source I look says was buit by VIA; I haven't seen any documentation that lists the model number)

Recently, I reformatted said PC using Ubuntu instead of windows.
I am now stuck in low graphics mode that won't let my resolution go beyond 800 by 600, and it's driving me crazy
I've been looking for drivers for hours now, that are supported in Ubuntu 8.04

so my question now is:
Do said drivers exist?
If not, when will they exist?
if never, is there a way I can fool existing drivers to work on 8.04?

VIA Arena - Drivers Section
These are the drivers I found, but all of the Unichrome Pro Integrated Graphics ones are for Ubuntu 7.10. When I tried to use one of those, it didn't let me because I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 which is obviously not Ubuntu 7.10
and that's pretty much the error message I got. . .
