VIA, if you guys are monitoring this... GREAT job on stepping up to the plate and making the press release about supporting Open Source Linux Drivers.

Official Press Release

I want to be clear about what support can actually be expected. You were clear that 2D/3D support would be there, but not so clear about what video acceleration would be available? Will Mpeg2/Mpeg4 (including h264, not just h263) support be available?

Finally, if you are truly putting a corporate effort behind this, how hard would it be to create a virtual host that answered for the domain name linux.via.com.tw (the proposed linux support site in the press release) since you clearly own the domain already with the main web site www.via.com.tw where the press release is posted.

If you want us to hold up hope, put something more behind the words. You are talking to a pretty technical crowd who is actually interested in a linux based solution.

We are hoping to create drivers that the masses want... you don't have the masses yet. Let us help you get there!

<<<<< Stand down off his soap box >>>>>>

How the heck did I get on that crazy box anyway... where did it come from? I never even saw it coming ... hahah

Anyway... let's keep this momentum going forward by back filling the corporate speak with technical backing!

Regards,

Antharian
