AMD’s first quad-core CPU, Barcelona, was an unforgettable nightmare for the company when it was shipped last September with a bug in the cache memory. This time AMD has announced that their upcoming CPU, Shanghai, won’t be another Barcelona and they’re claiming that they have overhauled their testing process to avoid such issues.
Pat Patla, AMD's server workstation group GM said that, “We realized with Shanghai that we'd have to turn out a product early that had the stability and the health to make [server vendors] get engaged," he told reporters in San Francisco. "We realized their experience with Barcelona wasn't ideal." - PC World.
