The Other Side of Linux
Sunday, October 14, 2007

If open source software is so great (and not just because its free and has way fewer virus attacks than Windows), then why isn't everyone jumping on the bandwagon and why is Windows still in business? Although Linux has some great software applications to help users with compatibility issues between a Microsoft and Linux OS, it's not quite so easy to get familiar applications like Yahoo IM and iTunes to work on Linux. At least, not for the average user. Setup definitely takes some level of advanced knowledge. Here's a blog that sums it all up.

Vista Just Isn't Ready
Sunday, October 14, 2007

The Dutch aren't too happy with Windows Vista's incompatibility with various types of hardware. In a five week investigation by Consumentenbond (the Dutch Consumers' Union), 5,000 consumer complaints were registered on difficulties in using the Vista OS and a preference for XP. Microsoft Netherlands refused the request to provide free XP packages to consumers of Vista that want to switch over. Their recent offer on allowing users to downgrade from Vista to XP only applies to users of Windows Vista Business and Ultimate. Regular consumers are left out in the dark.
