| Wyse G Class in Session Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Wyse Technology's G class is now available, offering high performance and flexibility for complex graphics applications and "data-intensive environments." The Wyse G class family is powered by a 1.2GHz VIA C7 processor and "comes with standard dual-display support and the option to support up to six displays as users' requirements increase. Multiple displays are controlled and enhanced through the Wyse TCX Multi-Display software. This includes the optional TCX multimedia software that enables users to experience rich multimedia in Citrix Presentation Server(TM), Citrix XenDesktop(TM), Microsoft(R) Terminal Services or VMware's virtual desktop environments." | VIA EPIA SN In the News Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Mini-itx-news is talking about VIA's EPIA SN-series motherboard, which, as we know, is based on the VIA CN896 IGP chipset. The 1.8GHz VIA C7 processor gives it a 30% performance improvement over previous EPIA motherboards from VIA. "The VIA EPIA SN is also the first to provide the added flexibility of a 16-lane PCI Express port for bandwidth-intensive graphics cards, stated the company. The motherboard also is equipped with four SATA 2 ports, an Ultra DMA port, a compact flash connector, dual-LAN ports and wireless support. The VIA EPIA SN can support 4GB of DDR2 667 system memory." OCC has a new review for us with the Altec Lansing inMotion iMV712. They've got some cool tips on using it with your iPod and television with great playback visual quality. "The Altec delivers a smooth clear picture. Unfortunately, you can’t disable the LCD while playing on the television." See what else they have to say about it. Driver Heaven was curious about the performance of Akasa's Revo CPU cooler. "The Revo is using a new patented technology called SilentFlux, invented and patented in Denmark." | The Most Affordable Linux Thin Client Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Norhtec in Bangkok has released a mini-PC that they claim is the most affordable Linux thin client system to date. "The "ultra-low-power" MicroClient JrSX is based on a 300MHz x86-compatible SoC (system-on-chip) and includes both CompactFlash and 2.5-inch hard drive storage options, along with 10/100Mbps Ethernet networking." Other releases include the MicroClientSr, which uses the Via Eden ULV 500MHz processor and 512MB RAM and the Via CX700M core logic chipset, and the UltraClient, which is based on Via's 1.2GHz Eden processor and CX700M chipset. It's the name of a "Smart Value PC" with "a Via C7 1.5Ghz embedded CPU Main board, 256 MB DDR2 RAM (as of now, 512MB with free upgrade as an inaugural offer), 80GB HDD, Combo Drive, MM KB, 15-inches CRT Monitor, optical mouse, and stereo speakers." | Packard Bell's First UMPC Gets a Price Tag Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Packard Bell in the UK is now marketing the EasyNote XS UMPC at a price tag of 349 pounds inclusive of tax. That amounts to approximately $710. It's Packard Bell's first UMPC and runs on a VIA 1.2GHz C7-M processor with 1GB of RAM. Equipped with Windows XP Home, 30GB hard drive, webcam, Bluetooth, and WiFi, it presents stiff competition to the ASUS Eee PC. Watch out for the US launch of the UMPC under the brand, the CE260.
