|  | VIA Goes Arabian Wednesday, September 26, 2007 With the growing interest in VIA products in the Gulf region, VIA has stepped up to the plate with a new Arabic language website. Designed to promote awareness of VIA’s products and initiatives, the Arabic site will become the ninth site they own. The others include French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and of course, English. “The Middle East has an great desire for local content generation, fueled by a rapidly ascending economy, proliferation of computers and the Internet,” said Werner du Plessis, VIA’s Business Development Manager for Africa. “With our new VIA Arabic language website, we hope to fulfill this need and further expand on our strategic interest in the region.” Read all about it here. | |

| OQO Hits Europe Saturday, September 22, 2007 OQO's first UMPC to reach Europe comes from its new 02 model line featuring VIA's 1.6GHz C7-M ULV processor. Reviewers were impressed with the quality of the screen, which is a mere 5 inches diagonally with no loss in quality for the text. Microsoft is still making a hard sell on Windows Vista, but it's now allowing PC makers to offer downgrade options for users who prefer the XP OS. Of course, this only applies to Windows Vista Business and Ultimate versions. Fujitsu and Hewlett-Packard have already started including XP CDs with the packaging at little or no extra charge. This move comes in light of the resistance to change from businesses who appear to have a strong preference for Windows XP, particularly since Windows Vista has very high graphics and memory requirements.
