OQO and HSDPA

OQO has really gone and done it this time! If you have been waiting to see what's the latest on the scene with them, then this is one of the good ones. OQO has come together with HSDPA for their model e2 creating one great package with HSDPA coverage. Also they have “really outdone themselves by making it SIM-free and unlocked.” So all you have to do is “just pop your SIM card in” and “hop online anywhere you can get a wireless signal.” Get the whole scoop.

Apple wins lawsuit

Apple’s recent lawsuit with Think Secret has been settled according to news reports. So is it all is well that ends well? Maybe it is for Apple but sadly, this is not the case for Think Secret, the Apple rumors site which will no longer be working. Nick Ciarelli, who was Think Secret’s publisher, issued a press release which stated “Apple and Think Secret have settled their lawsuit, reaching an agreement that result in a positive solution for both sides. As part of the confidential settlement, no sources were revealed and Think Secret will no longer be published.” Get the whole scoop at PCMech.
    
China Unicom in play

China Unicom Corp and now in play with each other. Unicom has recently teamed up with VIA Technologies Inc of Taiwan in a new CMDA deal. This is a great success for VIA which replaces NASDAQ:QCOM as supplier for the CMDA chips. Unicom seems to be very happy with this deal and mentioned that “the two companies will also cooperate in mobile phone chip technology and smart phones.” Read more.
    
VIA to power Amtek’s new UMPC

There is yet another new UMPC to take note of. Amtek has plans to release a new ultra mobile PC with Windows Vista OS onboard. This will be the first of its kind and is something to watch out for. The Amtek T770 will be powered by a VIA C7M 1.2 GHz processor and has some really hot features which include a VX700M chipset, 7” 800 x 480 pixel display and stereo speakers and so on. eo has come up with a really light weight UMPC fully loaded with a 1.0 VIA C7-M ULV processor! This new gizmo is called the v7110 and is “compact in size, light weight and is very portable to carry.” This new toy is also “compatible with the full version of Microsoft Windows XP professional edition.” This baby is “popularly known as the business mobile as it can perform various functions like storing of notes, memos, planning of meetings, reading of emails etc.” Check out Gizmophobe for more.
