Now we have a new collaboration of hackers who made it their business to break the mysteries (and the restrictions) of the iPhone software. Want to use your iPhone on a network other than AT&T? Now you can! The group has made free software and easy instructions available to all who need them.

In late 2006, Jennifer Granick, a cyber-law attorney, won an exemption making it legal to break locks to enable phones to use a different wireless network.
