Digitimes.com reports that "VIA Technologies has reportedly snapped up orders for its UMPC (ultra-mobile PC) use processors and supporting chipsets from US-based vendor OQO, according to market sources. VIA's shipments of the CPUs and chipsets to OQO this year will allow the US vendor to roll out 40,000 UMPCs, the sources said." Surely not all that surprising considering the launch of the VIA C7-M ULV processor based device at CES recently. They also report that "In related news, VIA OnDemand, a subsidiary of VIA Technologies, will be re-named as CatchPlay, providing online gaming, video downloading and other digital content, the sources added." |
