XYZ Computing visit VIA in Vegas
"At CES this year VIA took over the Lunch at Piero's event..." What captured XYZComputing.com's eye was the pico-ITX developers' kits on display. "Looking at the specifications for the system we can clearly see that VIA is aiming this form factor more at consumers than at industrial users. The four USB ports, DVI and TV-out, high definition audio, and video decoders mean VIA is following in the trend of Mini-ITX and giving us something that is friendly with hobbyists and home users." They were also intrigued by the environmentally friendly offering: "This product (also available in white) was VIA's Carbon Free PC, an earth-friendly model that is RoHS compliant, consumes a limited amount of power, has a high power-per-watt rating, and uses the VIA C7-M ULV processor. It is scalable to be Windows Vista ready, though some upgrades (memory, etc.) will be needed."
