This morning I attended the opening keynotes speeches of the eighth annual VIA Technology Forum (VTF). The theme for the event was Ultra Mobility. PC 2.0, Web 2.0 and the Mobility 2.0 lifestyle were the types of terms being used by the speakers. The atmosphere was one of anticipation and optimism, as well as progress and success - of taking something to the next level, the next stage. VIA's CEO and President, Wenchi Chen, revealed the Mobile-ITX platform - smaller than a business card.
In a later speech, Roger Yuen, Vice President for Asia and Global Operations, Packard Bell, revealed their EasyNote XS UMPC, based on VIA's NanoBook reference design. Otto Berkes from from Microsoft stated that he believes the UMPC will redefine what we call a personal computer.
