Walking through one of the halls of CES the other day and we stumbled across Entropia, a masssively multiplayer game with over 800 000 subscribers that for some odd reason,m we'd never heard of before! John spends a lot of time playing WoW, building up his character and earning heaps of in-game gold. Although some players sell characters or items for real money, it's a practice frowned upon by Blizzard. Entropia has a similar type of gameplay as WoW but you can but credits in-game and also sell stuff as well. One player a few years ago famously bought an island in the game for around US$30 000 and now earns his living from allowing other characters in the game to hunt on the island for a fee!
Entropia were showing off a demo of Entropia at CES, based on the Crytek engine. This will make them the first massively multiplayer game to have that level of realism. You can check it all out in our video here.
