Desktop Shortcuts and Shortcut Keys

Shortcuts are created to provide quick access to frequently used programs like documents, software applications, files, folders and even hard drives. The main advantage of using shortcuts is that the user need not go to the installed location to start the file.

You can create, delete, move, and customize a shortcut. Moreover, the changes that you make in your shortcut will not affect the original item. For example, when you delete a shortcut on your desktop, only the shortcut to the file gets deleted. The original file remains intact.
