How to Use the Google Blogger Service

The publishing world has changed. That much we know from the multitude of blogs cropping up in the past years. Blogs have captured the attention of news sources, everyday hobbyists, the star struck, the pedantic, and diarists.

A blog literally means a web log, blog for short. With the increasing popularity of this publishing medium, Google set out and bought one of the more popular blog services, Blogger dot com. The Blogger.com site features free hosted blogs, a robust set of features, and a simple web publishing interface. In this article, we describe the Blogger.com service, in hopes of opening up the online publishing world to you.

Getting Started with Your New Blog

A blog can be a personal journal, an expert analysis of a professional field, a review of movies, books, or anything you desire. It can be as unique and defining as the clothes you wear on your back. For this reason, the Google Blogger service has made customizing your blog’s template simple and intuitive, to a point. To really have a distinct blog, you need to know some CSS and HTML. But to get started, let’s create a blog from a basic template.

First things first, you need a Gmail account to get going on Blogger. If you have one already, then you can move on to the next steps. If you do not have a Gmail account, the first step on the site prompts you to create one. The Gmail login will be used in the future to login to the Blogger site, and its information should be kept in a safe place.
