Introduction

How do you share your photos, music files, videos etc with your friends? There are problems and hassles with many options. You can zip files up and email them. You can burn DVDs and post them. You can put a limited amount on social networking sites. Or use file sharing services like Flickr. Or file transfer sites like YouSendIt.com. In all of these instances you have to prepare the files first. What if you could just let your friends and family have access to your files to get them themselves?

Shalsoft, a start-up from France has been running TribalWeb for many years in Europe. They have launched TribalWeb with a new name, Gigatribe, for English speaking countries, starting with the US. It’s available in both free and paid Ultimate versions.

Gigatribe Main Interface

Gigatribe is a peer to peer private file sharing network. With Gigatribe you can share files with your friends, family and people you know through a private network. The file sharing is encrypted and unlike other peer to peer sharing networks you are not exposed to an ocean of strangers who can see all your folders.

Invitation Request

Your Gigatribe network is built by your invitation and by invitations which you accept from others. In Gigatribe you are given the choice to choose which folders you want to share with which of your friends. It is also up to you to decide which files to download and nobody can send you a file without your consent.

The Ultimate version of Gigatribe has some additional features and services from Shalsoft. Gigatribe Ultimate offers you an increased download speed and more freedom to do multiple transfers with multiple users at the same time. The Ultimate version is available for a monthly subscription of US$4.99 or US$ 29.95 for an annual subscription.
