Introduction

Google, a company well known for its innovative ideas, announced Google Pack at the 2006 Consumer Electronic Show. A lot of software has been added and removed from the pack since then. Google describes Google Pack as a free collection of safe, useful software from Google and other companies which helps to enhance a user’s online experience and improves their desktop applications too.

Google Pack is a collection of 13 pieces of software bundled together to make your computer easier to manage, search and secure. The pack will give you faster web browsing, remove spyware and viruses, organize photos and a lot of other useful things.

The pack is particularly good for people who have a newly purchased PC. In that instance, Google Pack would help set up security software and get you started with the basics of a Google enhanced PC.

Download, Installation and Google Updater

Go grab a copy of Google Pack from the Google Pack Website. There you will automatically find which software in the Google Pack you already have in your system so that you don’t have to download the same software again. Google Pack also gives you an option to choose to download only the software you want from all the available software.

The minimum system requirement for Google Pack is the presence of Windows XP or Vista. Since Google Pack sort of fits into that green computing, cloud computing sort of sphere since it’s free, it’s a bit sad that Linux is not supported, but I guess Google figure it’s easier to support for just the Windows crowd.

The download, installation and updating of Google Pack is very easy and is done by the Google Updater. The updater will also let you know about new programs and keep everything up to date for Google Pack software you already have installed.

Google Updater is what operates as you download and install Google Pack for the first time and it will also appear when any new updates for software are available.
