Editor

To edit an image directly click the editor icon on the jog wheel. Browse your hard drive and select the image to be edited. The images in the selected folder are displayed in a list view. Similar to other photo editing tools, the basic information of the image like the image size, image pixels and file name are displayed just below the image. You can either click the image or drag and drop the image into the main window to edit it.

There are four basic operations available for editing the image: Home, Object, Crop, and Region.

Home

In the Home option you can apply basic setting to your images like adding frames, adjusting the brightness and the color of the image, resizing and adjusting the backlight etc.

Photoscape has nearly 120 different frames to choose from. While adding frames you can adjust the margin and frame line based on points. You have two different options to resize an image, either you can resize an image based on the default pixels size or you can enter you own pixel size (as default pixel sizes are in multiples of a hundred).

Click on Bright, Color to adjust the brightness, contrast, increase the color contrast, decolor, adjust the white balance etc.

You can also adjust the Auto level auto contrast and sharpen the image based on preset three levels of High, Medium and Low.

Object

Access these features to add text or some cartoons and clip art to your images. Why have a slide show just with photos when you can have fun with captioning?

There are options to add cartoons, different faces, pencil art, your signature, and numbers onto your images. Or you can just add text and symbols to your images. Similar to Microsoft Paint, you can also do basic drawing like drawing a line, creating squares, rectangles etc and then adjusting the colors.

In the picture below I have added a cartoon character and a speech balloon with text in it.

Crop

The crop tab, you’d probably guess, allows you to crop (highlight a section and cut it out of) an image. With the crop freely option you can crop any part of the image in a rectangular format, similar to the crop option in Microsoft Paint. With the crop roundly option the images can be cropped in the form of a circle or an ellipse. When you crop an image, just below the newly created image, the height, width and pixel size of the image is displayed.

Region

A common issue with photos is red eye and its in the region tab that you’ll find the answer. Plus, virtual cosmetic surgery is offered as well with the “Mole” removal button! To remove a red eye or mole drag a small box around the eye or imperfection and click delete to remove.

How does one remove dust specks or sun reflections from an otherwise great photo? I tried using the "mole" option and didn't get great results.
