Google Chrome can even create shortcuts of web applications to your desktop, Start menu or Quick launch bar so that a single click is enough to launch your web application without opening your browser. These web applications include Gmail, Google docs and other Google online services.
To create application shortcuts, follow these steps:
- Open the URL in Google Chrome for which you want to create the shortcut.
- Click the page menu.

- Select Create application shortcuts

Check the locations where you want to place the shortcut and click on OK. You can select all three locations. Once done, the shortcut(s) will be created on the selected locations.
The shortcut will then appear on your desktop
Tab Dragging Feature
Believe me, dragging tabs in Google Chrome is so awesome and smooth that I have never experienced it like this in any other web browser to date. To drag a tab, just click on a tab and drag it in the desired direction. Google Chrome also lets you drag any tab out of the browser to create a new window. Reverse the same action to add the dragged out window as a tab again. The process is simple and easy!
Incognito Window - Browser Safety
Google Chrome has introduced something called an ‘Incognito Window’. When you surf pages in this mode, the browser won’t store your browsing history, search history and cookies as well. However ISP or employers can still track the pages you visit in this mode! To switch to Incognito mode, click the Page menu and select New incognito window or press Ctrl+Shift+N.
Google Chrome also offers a safe browsing feature that warns you if you try to visit any unsecured, phishing, malware or suspected sites. The following error message will be displayed: “Error Messages and Alerts: 'This is probably not the site you are looking for!'”.Integrated Search Engine and the Address BarAnother thing which is good in Google Chrome is the integrated search engine in the address bar. Unlike other browsers, Google Chrome doesn’t have a separate search engine tool, so basically the Google Chrome’s address bar let’s you to access the configured search engine directly. By default Google Chrome uses Google (no shock there) as the search engine but you can change the default search engine to Yahoo, Live Search, AOL and Ask. If you wish you can even add more search engines. To do so, follow these simple steps: - Click on the Wrench menu and select Options

In the above screenshot, you can see the preset list of search engines. To make any of these as your default search engine, select the search engine name and click on the Make Default button. To add a new one, click the Add button. Enter the Search engine Name. Eg. Cuil - Enter the Keyword name. Eg. cuil.com
- Enter the URL. E.g. http://www.cuil.com/search?q=%s (In the URL, you have to insert %s in the URL where the search term should appear.)
- Click the OK button.
- Select the newly added search engine and click on the Make Default button.
Now when you open a tab you can directly enter your keywords (eg. Cuil.com) in the Address bar and press the Enter key to visit the site that you want. |

Nice walk-through of the browser, but hardly a 'review'. This is a mini-guide on how to use Chrome. I would have liked to see some actual testing done on font/page rendering, performance, and perhaps some torture-testing. Leave the manual/tutorial writing to Google - give us some analysis! |
