8.9 Inches and Beyond _tn.JPG)

Last week VIA announced the OpenBook reference design. Much like the 7” NanoBook reference design they launched last year at Computex, the OpenBook is 8.9” instead. _tn.JPG)
On the top there is one of two in-built web cams. _tn.JPG)
Here’s an 8.9” offering from iDOT VED8900. It does feature the VX800 chipset which was one of the specs of the OpenBook, so it probably is based on that platform. iDOT is some sort of affiliate company of VIA’s. _tn.JPG)
Here’s another mini-note with the VX800 from Airis. Looks fit for a “girlie girl”. _tn.JPG)
I knew about the 7” HP 2133 Mini-Note but I didn’t know they had an 8.9” version out. It has a slightly older chipset in it. Let’s hope they upgrade it to the VX800 – and better still, add in one of those new VIA Nano processors. But a lot of products on their booth sports screens of 10 inches or more: _tn.JPG)
A 10” Ngai Lik Mini-Note. _tn.JPG)
10.2 inches from TongFang Imini SI. _tn.JPG)
Look at this fantastically bright 10.2” mini-note! _tn.JPG)
This is another notebook from HP, an older 12.1” with a 1GHz processor and older CN896 chipset. Probably a thin client notebook. Also on VIA's booth were a handful of EPIA boards - but these mini-notes were the photogenic displays :) |
