Where this speaker set finds it niche is for people who use mobile devices habitually for their music playing and want to be able to walk into their room, hook up wirelessly and play their music on a decent set of speakers. You can buy a bluetooth dongle for iPods. UMPCs and ultra portable notebooks almost always come with bluetooth. And here's another scenario: John's full desktop replacement notebook has the audio cable at the front, which is a little awkward and messy. Setting up the AVL337 speakers would mean that he could just put his notebook down and connect and play audio files without having the hassle of cords. The speakers could be properly mounted and you could sit anywhere in the room with the notebook.
Pros - Nice appearance - classic and neutral

- sound quality would not meet the standards of an audiophile
At the end of the day, the AV LABS AVL337 wireless bluetooth speaker set will appeal to the audio needs of a variety of scenarios but it will not fulfill the needs of all. It might sound like an ambiguous conclusion, but it's a sort of you'll either love them or you'll hate them solution. If you have a desktop PC and it doesn't have bluetooth (and most don't), then you're better off getting a smaller desktop set that wire up. If you use a notebook or a portable audio device and you want to be able to just come home and connect and play music at the end of a day, the AVL337 are for you. Just make sure you're happy for the music to be played in one room though - ten meters is not such a huge distance. The AVL337 speakers typically retail for AUD$399. We would like to thank Audion Australia for supplying these speakers. |
