How to Modify the RSS Feed Default Display in the Sidebar Gadget If you wanted to see the TechCrunch RSS feed in your sidebar gadget, there are a few short steps you would take to get it there. I will walk you through the process of setting up the gadget to display only the TechCrunch RSS feed. - Navigate Internet Explorer to www.techcrunch.com.
- Click on the RSS feed icon on their home page.
- Click the Subscribe button on the feed page.
- Choose a folder for the RSS feed to be stored. This can be left as the default Feeds folder.
- Click the Subscribe button, and then move to the desktop of your Vista machine.
- On the right hand side, ensure the RSS Feed gadget appears.
- If the feed does not show up, and you only want TechCrunch to appear, then right click the RSS feed gadget and select Options from the drop down menu.
Choose TechCrunch from the drop down list, and then select the number of headlines you want the gadget to retrieve. You’re finished! You can show 10, 20, 40, or 100 RSS feed headlines at a time in the gadget. You can also have it cycle through multiple RSS feeds. For our purposes, we left it at one feed and 10 headlines.
Now that the TechCrunch feed has been added to the sidebar gadget, it will always be there. Every time you start your computer, your gadget seeks out the feed and updates it with new content. It also pings the feed to find out at if new content has been published. |
