UT- No Cooling
I played a single assault in Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT) which went for about fifteen minutes. To monitor the temperatures I plugged in a LCD screen via a HDMI cable to the notebook, which displayed CPUID's HWMonitor on it. Temperatures pretty much so peaked out within the first five minutes. To be honest, I was shocked at how hot things got. The cores reached 86° C and 90° C respectively (186 and 193° F). The GPU temperature rose to 86° C (186° F). The hard drive temperature only gained a single degree, to peak at 41° C (105° F). At this stage I also took the opportunity to measure the surface temperature of the underside of the notebook. The hottest spot on the notebook was 54° C (129° F). It was literally hot to the touch. This was all after a single 15 minute game of UT. UT didn't really stress out the PC at all, it was more than capable of playing it at maximum settings at well over 100fps. Let's see what happens when we stress the notebook out with benchmarking. |
