Using the Send to Menu

Perform the following steps to create a desktop shortcut by using the Send To menu:

1. Open My Computer
2. Double-click a drive or folder
3. Select the item for which you wish to create the shortcut
4. Right click the target file, select Send Toand then click Desktop (create shortcut)

Using the ALT Key

Perform the following steps to create a desktop shortcut by using the ALT key:

1. Open My Computer
2. Double-click a drive or folder
3. Select the item for which you wish to create the shortcut
4. Hold down the ALT key
5. Drag and drop the selected item to the desktop
6. Release your mouse and then your ALT key to place the shortcut on the desktop
