Video Size QuickTime player 7.5.5 gives you the ability to play your media files at normal screen size, half screen size and double sized as well as standard full screen mode. However QuickTime free has now offered you the option to switch to full screen mode. Unlike some others players, as you resize the screen, playback is not affected. HD Playback The free version of QuickTime is now able to play high definition H.264 media playback, the next generation video format which can compress the video size without compromising on quality. The file format name for H.264 video is .AAC. H.264 is a standards-based codec which delivers exceptional-quality video at the lowest data rate possible, across data rates ranging from 3G to HD and beyond. A system must meet minimum system requirements to be assured of good playback. Although the H.264 video format is of very good quality, it is not popular. Most people don’t use the .AAC format for movies and TV shows. Movies and TV shows that people get off the net or via peer to peer sharing are almost all in AVI file format, whether they are HD or SD. The reason for this is that TIVO files can be easily ripped to AVI format. So although HD playback is great in Qui8ckTime, you’ll find yourself using other software simply because it doesn’t support AVI. Audio Playback QuickTime has exceptional audio output due to a high bit-rate during playback. While it’s true that your audio playback is only going to be as good as your audio hardware and speakers, don’t mistake the importance of good audio software. QuickTime is noticeably better than Windows Media Player. It can handle a wide range of music formats including WAV, MP4, MOV, AIFF, and many more. An option of 24 channels of surround sound output is also available. As an audio player QuickTime delivers good quality playback but it doesn't link in with the Library of iTunes well enough to have that functionality of Windows Media Player and therefore downloading it with iTunes is a better option. The playback controls in the new QuickTime player are far better than its predecessors. The ability to adjust jog shuttle, playback speed, bass, treble, and balance controls now add to your best possible viewing experience.
